Danubia NanoTech was awarded a highly competitive grant from the European Union EIC Accelerator Pilot Program. The European Union supported Danubia’s effort to expand the market potential of its graphene-based temperature sensor for battery cells. As stated by the EU: “The EIC Accelerator Pilot offers Europe’s brightest and boldest entrepreneurs the chance to step forward and request funding for breakthrough ideas with the potential to create entirely new markets or revolutionize existing ones. The EIC Accelerator Pilot supports close-to-market activities, with the aim to give a strong boost to breakthrough innovation with a market-creating potential. Highly innovative SMEs with a clear commercial ambition and a potential for high growth and internationalization are the prime target.”
Danubia NanoTech received the business innovation grant for the go-to-market feasibility assessment of its graphene temperature sensor for EV batteries. The thin-film areal graphene sensor monitors the temperature directly on the surface of the battery cells and helps to improve the battery efficiency and life. The sensor is extremely thin with high accuracy, ultra-light and while produced by spray-coating, it is also very variable for application on flexible (curved) surfaces and practically unlimited in terms of coverage area. On self-adhesive film, the sensor’s application is very easy, with lower material costs with fast response and excellent accuracy.
